Stochastic dynamics of the FitzHugh-Nagumo neuron model through a modified Van der Pol equation with fractional-order term and Gaussian white noise excitation

چکیده

The stochastic response of the FitzHugh-Nagumo model is addressed using a modified Van der Pol (VDP) equation with fractional-order derivative and Gaussian white noise excitation. Via generalized harmonic balance method, term related to fractional splitted into equivalent quasi-linear dissipative force restoring force, leading an VDP without derivative. The analytical solutions for are then investigated through averaging method. This thereafter compared numerical solutions, where stationary probability density function (PDF) amplitude joint PDF displacement velocity used characterized dynamical behaviors system. A satisfactory agreement found between two approaches, which confirms accuracy It also that changing parameter intensity induces P-bifurcation.

Experimental evidence of van der Pol-Fitzhugh-Nagumo dynamics in semiconductor optical amplifiers.

Thermo-optical pulsing in semiconductor amplifiers is experimentally shown to correspond to a very common excitable scenario (the van der Pol-Fitzhugh-Nagumo system). Self-sustained oscillations appear in the sequence predicted by this simple dynamical model as we change either the injection level or the bias current. Periodic modulation of these parameters leads to the characteristic phase-loc...

A modified van der Pol equation with delay in a description of the heart action

In this paper, a modified van der Pol equation is considered as a description of the heart action. This model has a number of interesting properties allowing reconstruction of phenomena observed in physiological experiments as well as in Holter electrocardiographic recordings. Our aim is to study periodic solutions of the modified van der Pol equation and take into consideration the influence o...

Stochastic averaging and asymptotic behavior of the stochastic Duffing-van der Pol equation

Consider the stochastic Duffing-van der Pol equation ẍ = −ω2x− Ax −Bx2ẋ + εβẋ + εσxẆt with A ≥ 0 and B > 0. If β/2 + σ/8ω > 0 then for small enough ε > 0 the system (x, ẋ) is positive recurrent in R \ {0}. Let λ̃ε denote the top Lyapunov exponent for the linearization of this equation along trajectories. The main result asserts that λ̃ε ∼ ελ̃ as ε → 0 where λ̃ is the top Lyapunov exponent along tra...

Stochastic Fitzhugh-nagumo Equations on Networks with Impulsive Noise

In this paper we study a system of nonlinear diffusion equations on a finite network in the presence of an impulsive noise acting on the nodes of the system. We allow a rather general nonlinear drift term, including dissipative functions of FitzHugh-Nagumo type (i.e. f(u) = −u(u− 1)(u− a)) arising in various models of neurophysiology (see e.g. the monograph [19] for more details). Electric sign...

Dynamics of a FitzHugh - Nagumo system subjected to autocorrelated noise

Physical and biological systems are continuously perturbed by random fluctuations produced by noise sources always present in open systems (1). In physical and biological systems, noise can be responsible for several interesting and counterintuitive effects. Resonant activation (RA) and noise enhanced stability (NES) are two noise activated phenomena that have been widely investigated in a diss...
